Hi,
I looked for a better place to post this, but found none. Please move it if I have chosen incorrectly.
I should say up front that these are only suggestions and I am unfortunately not in a position to assist in implementing them if indeed you folks thought there was merit in the ideas.

I'd like to congratulate Kyle on his
excellent work on the installer wizard, and raise two suggestions for discussion.
1.) Do you think it might be a good idea to simplify the 'Pre-Installation Check' page by only showing items that are actually "show-stoppers"? Here is a
quick mockup showing what I mean. I suggest moving the "Recommended settings" stuff to the final page since they are not show-stoppers. The user doesn't need those issues getting in the way of their install. We just mention it at the end of the process... "Congratulations, Joomla is installed. BTW, we recommend you make these changes for optimal compatibility with Joomla."
Having only the actual problems on the page frees up room to provide actionable steps the user can take to fix the problems.
2.) I'd also like to suggest hiding the 'Pre-Installation Check' page altogether if there are no incompatibilities at all ie. reducing the wizard to 5 steps.
EDIT:
3.) We should probably remove the 'Back to Top' link as well
Thanks for reading.
