Hello all,

Let me start off by saying I am new at joomla/mootools. I tried to look for a solution to my dilemma on both this board, and the main joomla board but could not find anything in my search, plus I think my question may be influence by possible upcoming changes in 3.0.

I am building a new template that incorporates bootstrap, jQuery and jQueryUI. My plan was to include Mootools as well, but for my very first attempt at setting up a bootstrap Carousel demo, the two libraries started conflicting. Even after using noconflict they do not seem to be playing nicely together.

How important is it to include mootools, and will the move to bootstrap make mootools more optional, or will some effort be made to make sure they play together well?

As far as I know one can disable mootools as a work-around and the normal front-end is still working. For test purposes we could install select button the configuration menu.
- jquerry
- mootools
- none

That way one might be able to test better. What do you think?

Greetings,
I'm very interested in making Boostrap part of the new Joomla!

But is this FINALLY going to be when we stop having MooTools in Joomla core? Please?

Thanks,
Matthew

What I have done for the time being is build my template to optionally load jquery, and also to override mootools with a custom mootools if I need to, to resolve conflicts.

The specific part of Mootools that is conflicting with Carousel is Fx.Slide, so I am just including a Mootools more without Fx.Slide. I don't really like this solution, and if mootools is to become optional I would rather just remove mootools, and go with strictly jQuery.
